AlunaGeorge – I Know You Like It

Here we are, Thursday. The final push to the weekend. You’re antsy, the clock’s moving slow, it’s frustrating as hell. So here’s some deep, dirty house that understands exactly how you feel

Drake ft. Jay Z – Poundcake

Fresh off of Drake’s new album Nothing Was The same, which dropped today. Cuts featuring Ellie Goulding, with support from Hova

Kaskade – Why Ask Why, Take Your Mind Off

I didn’t post the Kaskade album drop because I figured you’d be getting bombarded by that from 10 other places. But I couldn’t not post a song from it at some point. Or two. Take Your Mind Off is roots Kaskade all the way. Deep, jazzy house all the way. Why Ask Why is in a completely different vein. Much more new Kaskade filled with big room sound and airy vocals.

The Wanted – We Own The Night (The Chainsmokers Remix)

The Wanted - WOTN (The Chainsmokers Remix) Cover Art (1)

SoundDrop favorite The Chainsmokers are back at it again, this time touching up The Wanted’s We Own The Night . The Wanted has become an international sensation, similar to the rise One Direction has enjoy. Now that sort of thing isn’t really my sort of thing, but that’s where The Chainsmokers come in. The New York duo have mastered the art of taking incredibly catchy vocals and laying them over incredibly catchy house beats. This will be around their 30 release in the last year, which is a staggering number especially when you consider the acclaim each has received. Enjoy the latest song in this dyntasty of releases:

Bamboora & Oddjob – As Of Now

However, if you’re not quite ready to end the weekend and there’s a little energy still pulsing here’s your fix. Bamboora & Oddjob teamed up on this groovy, energetic electro tune – and they’re giving it away for free to get some publicity so grab it while you can!

Hippie Sabotage – Stay High (Tove Lo Flip)

First thing I gotta say is that the band name is just awesome, as is the flip Tove Lo put on their song Stay High. When I think Sunday, first thing that comes to mind is a big-time chill-out day and if I had to put music to it – this would be on the boombox I carried around all day. Sunday/chill day theme music

Atlas Genius – Centered On You (St. Lucia Remix)

Aussie trio Atlas Genius has become the premier remix band for producers everywhere it seems. I, personally, had not heard of them until their songs caught the attention of other, more notable producers (at the time). Regardless, there seems to be one common thread in each edit: the songs are great. So you take that half of the equation and then maybe ask someone like St. Lucia if we could get his take on it? Well here ya go. This edit has a slightly different feel than St. Lucia’s normal vibe, but I dig it. It’s a little less airy/summery and a little more electro but definitely fits the feel of the original song which are translated over in Keith Jeffery’s vocals. Props to St. Lucia for keeping the ball rolling raising an already extremely high bar on Atlas remixes

Calvin Harris & Alesso – Under Control ft. Theo Hutchcraft [Preview]

Uh oh. It’s always big news when two top tier producers get together on a track, but Calvin Harris and Alesso may be two of the most sought after producer/dj’s out there today. Give a festival goer competing set times with these two and you’d see some hair pulled out. But we don’t have to worry about that because the two have teamed up to lay down some production on a brand new track. We only get a minute and a half so it’s hard to tell what we’ve got on our hands but I’m pretty excited to see how their styles complement one another. Alesso is full on, in-your-face, big room bliss while Calvin brings his ultra-upbeat pop-house style to the table. Really looking forward to the full release on this one

Throttle – What’s That Sound (Live Mashup)

A few years back Madeon launched (no pun intended) the trend of live mashups using Novation’s Launchpad. Now YouTube is crawling with people sharing their bedroom mixes, but non come close to the same caliber as Pop Culture…until now. Throttle’s mashup is incredible and even includes a little piano work from the man himself. If you’ve ever used Ableton and the Launchpad you know the time put into something like this is mind boggling, it truly is incredible
